Experience

As an educator, I believe in helping students to understand complex scientific topics by first explaining the basic fundamentals in the simplest terms. As a student grasps the basics, they can easily approach more difficult topics with confidence. Any student can excel in any subject once given enough time and individual attention. I love watching students conquering difficult material once they know the basics.Another focus for my tutoring sessions is test taking. I understand the struggle of preparing for tests, and of handling the time constraints during them. I help students learn to work through test questions quickly but thoroughly. Students learn to manage their time during tests. Standardized testing is often a high-pressure experience, and I feel it's important to give students the skills to cope and perform well in these situations. With adequate preparation, students have a high likelihood of above-average scores.I am regularly juggling a variety of activities and hobbies, so I understand the difficulties students face when trying to appropriately distribute their time and energy. I encourage every student to pursue any career they like, no matter what grade they receive in a given course. Many students and parents are daunted by the pressure of achieving academic success, and this focus leads to forfeiture of other areas of development, such as social, personal, and professional. My students appreciate my easy-going method, as well as my ability to see "the big picture" and apply strategies that work toward the best overall result. I appreciate my students' work to learn new and often difficult topics, especially those for which they often have no current practical use. My honest perspective and experience are appreciated, and students generally find that their coursework or tests turn out much easier than they'd expected.
